Cue George Jones “It’s Finally Friday”
No. This momma isn’t ready for a wild weekend (listen to the song). I am ready for a sloppy bun, pajamas and Netflix marathons.
This week was fairly mild. Nothing too drastic. I had to see my ex 2 more times than I wanted to but that’s a whole different story and since it’s only 7:53am I can’t drink so let’s just skip over that.
Friday. One of the sweetest words. When you are single and childless Friday is totally different than when you are a parent. I never went out and partied much in my younger years. The first time I did I wound up in a pair of handcuffs from having a little bit too much fun (another good country song but I digress). Now on Fridays my littles and I stay up late, eat take out from somewhere (tonight it’s Hungry Howie’s) and watch either Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives or a good marathon on Netflix. We pile in the living room on the couches, bundle up in our blankets and set up for a good time. I live for the little moments like this. I don’t have to put on my fancy duds (can I say hooker heels on here?), suck it in and go and listen to bad karaoke. I can go home, eat food that doesn’t cost an arm and a leg and listen to my kids laugh.
Being a mom isn’t so bad. Yes I miss those days (a little) of having drinks bought for me and having guys swarm me like Scarlett O’Hara at the Twelve Oaks picnic. Now? I have kids swarm me like ants on a picnic and they aren’t bringing me punch and cake! They’re eating it!! I wouldn’t trade it though.
I never thought I would be a mom. I was told by several doctors that it wasn’t medically possible. God thought otherwise. My girls have been my saving grace countless times. I wouldn’t be the lovable, sarcastic smartass that I am today without them.
Friday. Finally.
